As consumers increasingly turn to AI assistants for product recommendations, a new question emerges: who is influencing the advice they receive?
This seminar explores how persuasive product content can shape LLM-generated recommendations before the consumer even asks. It will examine how firms may influence the information AI systems encounter online, why this creates new risks for consumer choice, and how these effects differ across hedonic and utilitarian products.
